McLendon, Kristina

McLendon, Kristina “Kris”, age 51, of 4th Street, Moundsville died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling.
She was born January 16, 1957 in Glen Dale, WV.
Kris was an entrepreneur and owner/operator of Classic Cleaners, Moundsville. She was a member of Glen Dale United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and the SPRC Committee; she was a Moundsville Girls Softball Coach, Commissioner and volunteer for over 20 years; she was a member and treasurer of the Opus Music Club, member of the MEDC, the Marshall County Building Commission and the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce.
She was preceded in death by her mother: June Taven Miller and her two dogs: Bo and Benny.
Survivors include one daughter: Brandi (Kevin) Ruckman of Moundsville; her two dogs: Bear and Barkley; her father and mother: Harry and Gwen Miller of Wheeling; three sisters: Tonya (Henry) Cross of Moundsville, Susan (Lucky) Bowersock of Canton, OH and Heather (Jeff) Walls of Clarksburg, WV; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am at the Glen Dale United Methodist Church, 700 Wheeling Ave., Glen Dale with Rev Billy Ray Carpenter officiating.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.

Springfield, Jean L.
October 18, 2008

Springfield, Jean L., age 86 of Moundsville, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Mound View Health Care Center, Moundsville.
She was born November 24, 1921 in Valley Stream, Long Island, New York the daughter of the late George and Bertha Wonneberger Kirschner.
She was a Methodist by Faith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: David F. Springfield; one son: David K. Springfield; one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters: Mindy (Michael) Gittings of Moundsville and Penny J. Haynes of Benwood and her fiance’: Thomas L. Blake; four grandchildren: Heidi Haynes, Chad Gittings, David (Jenni) Gittings and Tim Stires; two great-grandchildren: Chloe and Baylee Gittings and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8pm at the GRISELL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30am with Pastor Paul Smith and Pastor Greg Markins officiating.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard.

Blankenship, Ida
October 16, 2008

Blankenship, Ida Romans, age 94 went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 16, 2008.
She was born April 19, 1914 in Londonderry, Ohio the daughter of the late, Samuel T. and Victoria Mills Romans.
She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Group; Sharing & Caring Group; and Maxwell Acres Women’s Club.
She was a good neighbor and faithful friend to all who knew her, and Ida would like to remind everyone to stop and do a kind gesture.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard B. Blankenship whom she married on October 8, 1936; a son, J. Frederick Blankenship, DDS; eight sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include her son, H. Kirby (Bonnie) Blankenship, MD of Tampa Bay, Florida; four daughters, Vera Stillion of Byesville, Ohio, I. Karen (Robert) Rine of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Linda A. (John) Coffield of Monaca, Pennsylvania, and Dora (Robert, MD) Reed of Wheeling, WVa.; thirteen grandchildren, Richard Newberry, Timothy Newberry, Amy Kutcher, Kimberly Trankina, Kaysie Lahmann, Martin Blankenship, Jodi Coleman, Steven Rine, Jill Martin, Allen Coffield, Jay Blankenship, Zachary Hill, and Alexander Reed; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1pm with her grandson, Pastor Richard Newberry officiating.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.

Britain, Lue Verne A.
October 14, 2008

Britain, Lue Verne A., 87, of Wren Drive, New Martinsville, WV, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at home.
She was born January 5, 1921 in St. Paul, Minnesota, a daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Schmalz Wilkoske.
She was a member of the League of Women Voters, a homemaker, and a Lutheran by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J. W. Britain; and a brother, Donald Wilkoske.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Hoskins of New Martinsville, and Janet (Steve) Webber of Canton, IL; two sons, Jim Britain of New Martinsville, and Donald (Carolyn) Britain of Houston, TX; and three grandsons, Matthew Hoskins of New Martinsville, Stewart Michael and Scott Michael, both of Illinois.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-4 pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00pm with Rev. Alvin Schafer officiating.

Henry, Melissa J.
October 14, 2008

Henry, Melissa J., 87, of Proctor, WV, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the New Martinsville Health Care Center, New Martinsville, WV.
She was born March 5, 1921 in Marshall County, WV, a daughter of the late Griffie and Mae Goudy Wilson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Ozion and Arnold Wilson; and four sisters, Audry Minor, Rachael Stewart, Fay Crow, and Twila Ogar.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Benjamin Henry; two sons, Fred (Carol) Henry of Henderson County, NC and Francis S. Henry of Moundsville; a daughter, Shirley J. Weigand of Sistersville, WV; 8 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00pm with Pastor Bob Brooks officiating.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Burch Ridge, WV.

 
 
Miscovich, Melissa
October 14, 2008

Miscovich, Melissa Annette, age 30 of Newville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Moundsville died Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
She was born November 25, 1977 in Wheeling, the daughter of Donald and Vickie Magers Terrill of Moundsville.
She was loved by all who knew her; she touched a thousand hearts with the poetry she wrote; she loved music and art.
She was adored by her two nephews, Brayden and Isaac, and especially by her 2-½ year old son, Dane.
She would not have wanted us to go through any pain because of her passing; but to be remembering the good in her and the lives she touched.
Missy had a big smile, personality, and heart, and loved the simple life. She will always be remembered by the volunteer work she did at Reynolds’s Safety Town, and the Easter Seals.
She was a member of Roberts Ridge Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Martha Terrill; paternal great-grandfather, Paul Terrill; maternal great-grandparents, John and Katherine Vah, and Theodore and Edith Magers.
In addition to her parents, son, and nephews; survivors include her husband, James Miscovich of Newville; a sister, Ashley (Joe) Moag of Moundsville; paternal grandfather, William Terrill; maternal grandparents, David and Betty Magers; paternal great-grandmother, Geneva Terrill, all of Moundsville, and several aunts and uncles.
Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Yost, Conrad

Yost, Conrad Neil, age 78, of Ninth St., Moundsville, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 in Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
He was born August 19, 1930 in Moundsville, the son of the late Francis Marion and Frona Jane Higgins Yost.
He was a retired employee from Allied Chemical-North Plant and Catholic by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirlie Alice Yost, a daughter Debra Ann Davis, a brother Raymond (Grace) Yost, two sisters Edna (John) Butchko and Betty (Alfred) Whetzel.
Survivors include a daughter Janet (Thomas) Vickers of Moundville, eight grandchildren Matthew Gates, Allyson Gates, David (Lyndsey) Gates, Jeremy Gates all of Moundsville, Peggy Davis of Columbus, Ohio, Sandy Davis of Martins Ferry, Amber Vickers of Pittsburgh, Dawnett (Tom) Stern of Cameron, two great-grandchildren Chloe Gates of Moundsville, Ryder Stern of Cameron, a sister Violet VanDine of Moundsville, several nieces and nephews including Violet’s daughter Beverly Clark of Moundsville and Jodi (Tony) Kershuk of Moundsville.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11am until the time of service at 1pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
Interment to follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard.

Bell, Ralph
October 11, 2008

Bell, Ralph “Gus”, age 86 of Market Street, Clarington, Ohio, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Sistersville General Hospital. .
He was born February 14, 1922 in Clarington, OH, the son of the late David H. and Amelia Muller Bell.
He was an outstanding high school athlete and graduated Clarington High School in 1940; he would later go onto play Minor League baseball with the Cincinnati Reds as a pitcher before joining the US Army and serving in WWII.
He owned Bell’s Store in Clarington, and was very active in his community having served as mayor, councilman and a former River Local Board Member. He also was active in local sports having coached Little League and Pony League Baseball and a River Local Athletic Booster.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Clarington and a member of American Legion Post 760, Hannibal and the DAV of Bellaire.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David R. Bell a sister, Kathleen Bell and a daughter in law, Denise Knight Bell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Geneva Hannan Bell, two sons, Thomas Bell of Powhatan Point, OH and Robert D. (Cynthia) Bell of Willoughby, OH; one daughter, Susan (Steve) Hafer of Proctor; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Drive, Clarington, where services will be held Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Cathy Harman officiating.
Interment in Clarington Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 760.

Parker, Charles A., age 80 of Potomac Street, Moundsville, WV died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.
He was born January 23, 1928 in Glen Dale, WV the son of the late, Charles H. and Bertha Crawford Parker.
He was a National Guard Veteran; a retired employee from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Parker; and four sisters, Mabel Galloway, Adaline Parker, Sarah Richards, and Betty Rigby.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joy Streight Parker; three sons, Charles Wayne (Bonnie) Parker of Vance, AL, Dennis Lee Parker (Robin Wells) of Moundsville, and Roger D. (Kathy) Parker of Moundsville; a sister, Alice Dunn; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.; and his best friend, “Baby Girl”, his dog.
Family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 3pm.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard where the Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services.

Smith, John C., age 78 of Rebecca St., New Martinsville, WV died Friday, October 10, 2008 at home.
He was born February 23, 1930 in Muddy Creek, Tyler County, WV the son of the late Sprigg and Iva Baker Smith.
He was a US Army Korean Conflict veteran; a retired employee from Ormet Corporation; a Methodist by faith; and a member of New Martinsville American Legion Post #28; and Wetzel Lodge #39 AF & AM.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Riggenbach Smith.
Survivors include two sons, David Alan Smith of New Martinsville, and Jay Edward (Kathy) Smith of Proctor, WV; a sister, Barbara A. Smith Folger of Parkersburg, WV; five grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua Smith, both of Proctor, and Alyssa, Eric and Andrew Smith, all of New Martinsville; two sisters-in-law, Jean Marshall and Rita Dalrymple, both of New Martinsville, and a brother-in-law, Tom Lowe of Paden City, WV.
Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third St., New Martinsville where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11am with Rev. Paul Mateer officiating.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville, WV where the Sistersville Honor Guard will conduct Military graveside services.
