Child, Esther, age 85, formerly of Moundsville, WV died Monday, February 6, 2012 in Liza's Place, Wheeling, WV.

She was born July 1, 1926 in Benwood, WV the daughter of the late Thomas Harry Shepard and Lorena Sigler Shepard Kearns.

She was a 1947 Graduate of OVGH School of Nursing; worked at OVMC for 20 years; retired from Reynolds Memorial Hospital as a RN and 3rd Floor supervisor with 20 years of service; and was a Christian by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Thomas, and James Shepard; and two sisters, Anna Virginia Shepard, and Ada Mae Merrill.

Survivors include a daughter, B. Jane (G. Roger) Clark of Moundsville; three grandchildren, Trevor Clark of Columbus, OH, Rachel (Ben) Potters of Christiansburg, VA, and Robin (Aaron) Hoback of Chester, VA; five great-grandchildren, Grace and Gavin Clark, Shane and Alex Potters, and Jude Hoback; and special friends, Joan and Wayne LeMasters.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all those who provided excellent care and comfort for Esther this past year.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 13, 2012, from 11:00am until time of Memorial Service at 12:30pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville with Aaron Hoback, Minister officiating.
