Annalie Jones Pettit, age 94 of Moundsville, WV returned peacefully to her heavenly home on Monday, October 10, 2016. Annalie was the daughter of the late Bertram and Clara Virginia Hill Jones. She served our country during World War II as an enlisted Medical WAC and was stationed at Ashford General Hospital, which we now know as the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV; and she was a respected and loyal employee of Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. Her faith led her to Simpson United Methodist Church, where she was a devoted member of the choir and hand bell choir; and she also met her husband, Ray Pettit as choir members at Simpson. Annalie’s joys in life were her family, friends, and music. She made Sunday dinners for her ever-growing family every week. Her favorite activity was attending the Wheeling Symphony, where she was a season member for many years. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who lovingly called her G.G. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ray A. Pettit; a brother, William D. Jones; and three sisters, Ava Baker, Evelyn Clark, and Jeanne Hubbs. Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Barb) Pettit of Glen Dale, and David (Kathy Meyer) Pettit of Moundsville; a daughter, Susan Pettit of Moundsville; a grandson, Scott (Mina) Pettit of Wheeling; granddaughters, Dr. Michelle (Dr. David) Hess of Glen Dale, Dr. Heather (James) Taylor of Wheeling; and 8 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Sarah Hess of Glen Dale, Marshall, Zachary, and Alexander Taylor of Wheeling, and Arman Pettit Toyserkani, Layla, and Kamron Pettit of Wheeling. A Memorial Service will be held at Simpson United Methodist Church, Moundsville on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2pm. The family will receive guests with a small reception immediately following the service at the church until 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Annalie Pettit be made to the Wheeling symphony, 1025 Main St., Suite 811, Wheeling, WV 26003 or at wheelingsymphony.com.
