Board, Mary Elizabeth, age 90 of Eighth Street, Glen Dale, WV died Monday, August 20, 2007 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. She was born September 11, 1916 in Glen Dale, the daughter of the late John and Alicia Burkle Reilley. She attended West Liberty State College and completed her degree by taking night classes, sometimes driving to Weirton for a class and then teaching the next day. Mary received her Masters in Elementary Education from West Virginia University. She was a Catholic by faith and a 1st through 3rd grade teacher with Marshall County Schools for over 29 years. She started her teaching career at Sanford Elementary; taught at the 1st Central Grade School, First Ward Grade School and ended her teaching career at Glen Dale Elementary School. Mary loved children and teaching. She was a creative teacher; putting on plays; doing science experiments; many arts and craft activities and read to her students every day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Blaine Board, who was the former principal of Sanford Grade School; two brothers, Bernard “Bud” and Paul Reilley; an infant son, Joseph Blaine Board, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Lucy Reilley; a nephew, Randy Reilley and a cousin, Patsy Freeland. Survivors include four children, James Blaine (Josefina) Board, Dianne Board, Janet Board Roberts and Rodney Board, all of Glen Dale; a brother, Francis Reilley of Glen Dale; four grandchildren, Delilah Board (Scott) Ryan of Moundsville, Bambi Roberts (Jeremy) Brewer of Wilkinsburg, PA, Rikki Roberts (Gene) Gard of Birmingham, AL and Samuel Roberts of Canonsburg, PA; two great-grandchildren, Dexter Gard and Oliver Brewer; and several nieces and nephews including, Jane Reilley (John) Ryan of Wheeling, Pat (Debbie) Reilley and Ronnie Reilley, all of Glen Dale and Brent, Daryl, Kelly, Lisa, Paula and Judy who were all children of Francis and Paul Reilley; and special friend, Susie. Family will receive friends Thursday from 11am until time of funeral service at 1pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville.
