Tributes

Broemsen, Herbert E., age 97 of Tenth St., Glen Dale, WV died Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. He was born January 6, 1911 in Moundsville the son of the late John E. and Minda R. Perkins Broemsen. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army. After discharge from the Army, he attended and graduated from the former Elliott School of Business, Wheeling and was then employed by the Veterans Administration in the Huntington Finance office until 1948; when he was employed by the Treasury Department with positions in Wellsburg and Weirton. He retired from the Wheeling Office as Supervisor of the Office Collection Force. After retiring from the Treasury Department, he was employed by Dr. Kenneth J. Allen as his office manager. He also taught accounting at the College of Commerce in Wheeling. Mr. Broemsen was a Life Member of Moundsville Post #3 American Legion; a fifty plus year member of Marshall Union Masonic Lodge #8 AF & AM; having become a member in 1937; and a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church; where he had served as Treasurer for ten years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Clarence (Bertha M.) Allen, an infant sister and a niece, Nancy Allen Cairns.. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Chester (Barbara E.) Cuichta of Glen Dale; two nephews, Dr. Kenneth J. (Dorcas) Allen of Wheeling and Robert V. (Ruth) Allen of Bridgeport, WV; two great-nieces, Colleen and Mrs. Edward K. (Deborah) Davison; and six great-nephews, The Rev. Jeffrey (Laura) Allen, Richard (Debbie) Allen, Randall (Mechelle) Allen and Raymond (Stacey) Allen, Kevin Cuichta and David Cuichta and his fiancé, Celinda Lopez. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville and on Thursday from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 503 Lafayette Avenue, Moundsville with Pastor Judith K. Marlow officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Moundsville where the Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
