Delores J. “Dee” Newman, 83, formerly of Moundsville, died Friday, April 15, 2016 in Acuity Health Care, Bellaire, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 31, 1933 in Glen Dale, the daughter of the late Fred and Elsie Goodrich Holliday. She was a cook for Marshall County Schools; worked at the Marshall County Courthouse; an election poll worker; worked several sales opportunities; and most importantly, was homemaker and an active caregiver for her family. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she was in the Women’s Group; Marshall County Senior Citizens; attended Moundsville Alumni Luncheons; was active in 4-H while growing up. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Newman, Jr.; step-mother Alma Holliday; grandson Cole Hawkins; son-in-law Phil Harris; nephew Mike Okel; niece Mickey Holliday. Survivors include a son Gregg Newman of Moundsville; three daughters, Debbie (Paul) Shipley of Glen Dale, Carla “Jo” (Rod) Ross, Jeanne (Mike) Allman all of Moundsville; four siblings, Carolyn Burnett of Florida, Jim (Anna Mae) Holliday of South Carolina, Bill (Anita) Holliday of Florida, Roger (Nancy) Holliday of Moundsville; ten grandchildren, Eric (Jenny) Shipley of Colorado, Dana (Mark) Hawkins of Glen Dale, Brea (Jeremy) McCreary of Wheeling, Jared (Brittany) Newman of Glen Dale, Justine (Jake) Haney of Bruceton Mill, WV, Chelsea (Zach) Rodak, Tim Pahl, Nikki (JJ) Arnold all of Moundsville, Kristian Harris of Bethlehem, Alex (Julie) Harris of Texas; four step-grandchildren Wes (Natalie) Harris of Waynesburg, PA, Hayley Urbanek of Moundsville, Zack (Morgan) Allman, Brendon Ross all of Wheeling; seven great-grandchildren Ava, Hadley, and Charli Hawkins, Mitchell McCreary, Riley Apostolec, Dane Rodak, Kinsly Arnold; five step-great-grandchildren, Jax Harris, Isla and Bane Urbanek, Brody and Ruxin Allman; two sisters-in-law, Ethel (Chuck) Okel, Teresa Heil, several loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend thanks to the loving and caring staffs at Reynolds Memorial Hospital and Acuity Health Care. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am with Pastor Sharmune Burgess officiating. Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Wheeling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 454 Snedeker Drive, Moundsville, WV 26041.
