Geraldine “Gerry” Blair, age 78 of Glen Dale, WV passed away at home on March 6, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born July 9, 1943 in Morgantown, WV the daughter of the late John and Freda Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, John and Imogene Blair; a sister, Donna Jean Ammons; three brother, Denny Wilson, Jim Wilson and Ron Wilson; a son-in-law, Allen Holmes; three brothers-in-law, Phillip Garen “Bevo” Blair, John Stephens and Ron Ammons; a sister-in-law, Lois Wilson; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry was a member of the Glen Dale United Methodist Church; and a very loving person. All who knew her loved her and everyone felt comfortable in her presence. She also had a love for animals; especially her beagle dogs, Missy, Dolly, Abby and currently, Molly. She enjoyed trips to the family camp on Piedmont Lake and fishing from the pontoon boat. She was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren; and loved watching them participate in sports. She was a great homemaker, excellent cook and loved working in the flower garden. Our loss is a great gain for GODS GREAT KINGDOM. The family would like to offer a thanks to Hospice for their excellent home care program; and a special thanks to nurse Jackie Poff, for her compassion and expertise, much needed during this difficult time. Gerry is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John L. Blair, Jr.; a son, John, III (Selene) Blair; three daughters, Kathy Yannerella, Robin Holmes and Jonna (Dwight) Cunningham; three grandchildren, Jordan Cunningham, Dominic Yannerella, and Austin Yannerella; and two sisters-in-law, Beverly Stephens and Skip Wilson. There will be no visitation, with COVID-19 concerns. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Halcyon Hills Mausoleum with Rev. Chris Duckworth officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, Moundsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Glen Dale United Methodist Church, 700 Wheeling Ave., Glen Dale, WV 26038 or Marshall County Animal Shelter, 37 Animal Shelter, Dr., Moundsville, WV 26041.
