Tributes

IACONIS, Catherine Pauline Bodnar of Sandy Ave., Moundsville, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2008. She spent the last days at home amid many family members and friends at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Stephanie Baron) Bodnar and her sisters, Katherine and Mrs. Emma Rose Bodnar Davies. Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Catherine Anne and son, Matthew. Survivors are her husband, Jim of over 49 years of Moundsville; her son, John and Pam Iaconis of Monroeville, Pa.; her daughter, Larisa and Omar Tidwell and their two sons, Alexander James and Nathaniel Pierce of Houston, Texas; her son, Jim Iaconis of Concord, N.H.; and her granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Snoden of Oak Harbor, Wash. Surviving also are her sisters, Mrs. Mary Charnie of Weirton, Mrs. Dorothy Grecula of Dublin, Mingo Junction, Ohio and Mrs. Margaret (Bill) Kendrach of Mingo Junction. Catherine is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Dr. Chris Davies of Sayre, PA; Mrs. Mary Kaye (Tony) Druliner of Saugus, CA and her children, Marni, Chris, Danielle, Bob, Georgia, and Danny; Mrs. Georgeann (Paul) Callinan of Los Angeles, Calif. and her children, Patrick, Carly, and Kevin; George Charnie, Jr., of Weirton, WV; Marilyn Charnie and her son, Tommy of Weirton, WV; Dr. Michaleen Grecula (Dr. John)Chapman of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl; Dr. Michael Grecula of Galveston, TX; Mrs. Dottie Grecula (Jeff) Thelen and their children, Kristi, Julie, and Mikaela of Rochester, MN; Dr. John Grecula of Dublin, OH; Mrs. Carla (Mark) Gasser of Wintersville, OH and her children, Sara and Jacob; Bill Kendrach of Mingo Junction, OH; Mrs. Cindy Kendrach (Matt) Pitroff of Clearwater, FL and her son, Josh Kendrach; Mrs. JoAnne Kendrach (Joel) Eddie of Charlotte, NC; Dr. Michael (Angie) Kendrach of Birmingham, AL; and John Kendrach of Charlotte, NC. Traveling with her husband both state side and abroad, she persistently matriculated through many different colleges and universities when she finally earned her BSRN degree at West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling, WV. She worked as a dedicated nurse at Jones Nursing Home, Beech Bottom, WV, and worked and retired from the WS State Prison, Moundsville, WV and worked and retired from Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV. She gave CPR instruction at Reynolds Hospital, the American Heart Association, Marshall County Health Department, and helped the Red Cross during the Weegee Creek disaster in Shadyside, OH. She was devoted and dedicated to her family, her church, and helping those in need throughout the community and instilled these attributes into her children and exuded confidence in all persons that she touched. Catherine always had a positive attitude and passed this on to those she knew. She approached each situation in a patient, understanding manner. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was a gourmand in Ukrainian and Italian cooking, She enjoyed meeting new people and traveled extensively in the United States, Latin America, Western Europe, the Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Catherine was "the jewel in the crown" of her extended family and will be sadly missed by all. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, with Vigil service, Friday at 7:00 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 610 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
