It is with much sadness that we share the news of our mom’s passing. Irene Glover, or Mammy, as she is affectionately called by our family, peacefully passed away in her sleep. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Juna Faye Magers and Russell F. Yoho, three brothers, Eddie, Eldon and Elwood, and lifelong friend and father of her children, Joel Eldron Glover. Mom will forever be missed by her daughters, Debbie Glover Lombardo, Kathy Jo Glover (Bob Baxter), Kimberly Sue Glover, and her son Joel Damon Glover (Erin). As will her three grandchildren, Racquel Pixler, Drake Donovan Glover, and Zackary Damon Glover (Kate), and three great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Pixler, Harlo Ann Glover, and Carter Joel Glover. Mom is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn and Shirley. Mom was born in Marshall County and graduated from Moundsville High School. Hard work was instilled in mom early on, and at the age of 15, she began working for a paycheck at the Strand Theater popping popcorn. Mom’s work ethic and determination never waivered as she went on to work at Bob Robinson Cadillac dealership while taking in sewing jobs to make ends meet. It was not unusual for Mom to take extra shifts at Liquified Coal Development Corporation, even on Christmas Eve, and make it home in time to wrap the gifts from Santa. After she lost everything in a home fire, her entrepreneurial spirit to survive and support her kids began with the first tanning salon in the area, Tropical Fun ‘N Sun. Mom was the original owner and operator of Choo Choo’s Restaurant. And the community continued to enjoy her homemade soups at her most recent endeavor, the Speedway Diner. To this day, many of our friends continues to call her mom, and many other recounts her generosity with their needs. Always helping her employees whether it was paying their utility or medical bills, or simply advancing an interest-free loan. She was generous to a fault. We are heartbroken over the unexpected loss of our Mammy, as we know many are. Thank you for the outpouring of love and prayers. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be mailed to the Ester Crumley Fund, 21 Rosary Road, New Martinsville, WV 26155. We grew up across the street from Mrs. Crumley, and it’s the least we can do to make up for running through her yard. Arrangements include a private family ceremony. Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, WV.
