Betty Lou Fox Shepard, wife of Charles G. Shepard, of New Martinsville, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009. Mrs. Shepard was 82 years of age. She was born June 6, 1927 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Charles B. Fox and the late Martha Estelle Ellis Fox. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Rogersville High School where she was a straight A student, a cheerleader, a majorette, and a member of the National Beta Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Martinsville, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Charles Michael Shepard and Richmond Lee Shepard; a sister, Bertha M. Fox Henderson; and three brothers, Joseph Fox, Charles B. Fox, Jr., and Bob E. Fox. Survivors include her husband, Charles; one son, Shawn Gordel Shepard of Atlanta, Georgia; and one daughter, Linda Shepard (Charles) Hall of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Other surviving family members include granddaughter, Kimberly Hall (Dean) Duff and three great granddaughters, Kyla, Kaitlyn, and Kelsey Duff, all of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; grandson Christopher Michael Shepard (Tracy) and great grandson Chase Michael Shepard of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandson Charles W. Hall (Amy) and great granddaughter Ava of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughter Lauren Shepard (Brandon) Paine of Atlanta, and grandson Calvin Gordel Shepard, also of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was able to attend and enjoy a reunion of her Fox family in Rogersville, Tennessee on August 1, 2009. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where funeral services will be held at 8:00pm with Rev. Don Biram officiating. Graveside services and interment will be in Jaynes Cemetery, Rogersville, Tennessee by Colboch-Price Funeral Home.
