Yanen, Wanda J. Wasielewski, age 90 of Moundsville, WV died peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Mound View Health Care Center, Moundsville. She was born March 12, 1921 in Lafferty, OH the daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine Oleskowna Wasielewski. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church; and co-owner of the former Sam Yanen Ford in Moundville. Wanda belonged to many Women's Clubs in the Ohio Valley. She loved to travel, especially to Florida in the winter with her late husband, Sam, and later with her good friend Ethlyn Dellaria, who survives her. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was known for her kindness, generosity, community contributions, upstanding character, and class. She loved to sing, dance, and tend to her yard and gardens. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Yanen; the former owner of Sam Yanen Ford Mercury in Moundsville; her brothers, John, Frank, Edward, and Stanley Wasielewski, and Jack Conklin; and a brother-in-law, Robert Yanen. Survivors include two sons, Rod (Cindy) Yanen, and John "Rick" (Chris) Yanen; grandchildren, Kary Fenske, Melissa (Frank) Gilbert, Michele (Mike) Alvarez, John Yanen, II, Allison (Sam) Phipps, Krista (Dan) Karo, Ashley (Thad) Vavrock; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kady, Kristin, and Josie Fenske, Macy, Cole, and Cade Gilbert, Madison and Anthony Alvarez, Zachary and Courtney Phipps, Olivia and Roman Karo, and Alexis Vavrock; a sister, Freda Bihari; brother-in-law, George (Charlene) Yanen; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville where Rosary Devotions will be recited at 6pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 610 Jefferson Avenue, Glen Dale with Fr. Ed. Stafford as celebrant. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville. Wanda's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mound View Health Care and Dr. Robert Wade for their care, kindness, and support during her long struggle with Alzheimer's.
