Harley Alonzo Midcap, 82 (October 22, 1936- April 18, 2019) reached his final destination. Dad saw many sights along his 33 years of driving his 18-wheeler. Dad was great at making you feel like you were riding along with him in his home on wheels. He loved telling stories of the sights and people he met along the way. The smell of diesel fuel was a familiar smell in our home. It meant that Dad was home. Even after driving 2,000 miles a week, he would take us on Sunday drives. Dad was a man of strong character and physique. He was one of five children. Lawrence, Ocala FL, Donald (deceased), Dorothy Jones (deceased) and Lorraine Flesher (deceased). Their parents were Sanford and Ethyl Boyd Midcap. August 1, 1958 Dad married (Mom) Sylvia Sampson of West Liberty, WV . They had three children, Debbie, Keith and Gary. They made our home in Moundsville, WV until 1977. Dad took a job with Anchor Hocking driving truck in Connellsville, PA, where they lived for 25 years. While in Connellsville they bought a Victorian Home and made Mom’s dream come true. They opened the “Newmeyer House Bed and Breakfast”. Dad and Mom had the time of their lives meeting and loving people from all over the world. In 2001 Dad and Mom moved back to Moundsville, WV to retire. Mom (2007) and Gary (2008) have both gone to their eternal homes. I (Debbie) live in Waynesburg, PA and Keith in Houston, Texas. Dad and Mom have seven grandchildren. James Niven, Jacob (Susie) Niven, Krissy (T.J.) Thorton, Katie (Jermey) Granados, Kayleigh and Michael Chambers and 5 great- grandchildren, Brayden, River, Rosalyn, Henry and Riley. Dad and Mom gave us many wonderful memories that we love sharing with our children and grandchildren. They are gone from this earth but not from our lives and hearts. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church, Moundsville. Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, Moundsville.
