Ila M. Brown McConaughey, age 91 of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Cameron, WV died Friday, July 16, 2021 in Wheeling Hospital Medical Park. She was born in Pleasant Valley, WV, the daughter of the late Clarence Merle, Sr. and Bessie L. Snedeker Brown. Ila was co-owner and operator of McConaughey Guest Home in Cameron. She was a member of Cameron First Presbyterian Church; had operated a Bed & Breakfast at 102 Pennsylvania Ave., Cameron; was a member of Order of Eastern Star Lorraine Chapter #9, where she was past Worthy Matron; and she loved flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. McConaughey; two brothers, Merle, Jr. and Kenneth Brown; two sisters, Betty Dillender, and Jean Hammel; and a son-in-law, Steve Zaboji. Survivors include a son, John (Joan Gardner) McConaughey of Cameron; two daughters, Elizabeth McConaughey of Wheeling, and Susan Zaboji of Reston, VA; six grandchildren, Cameron (Kevin) Zdancewicz, Steven Zaboji, Christopher Zaboji, Patrick (Chrissy Mucheck) McConaughey, Erin (Curtis) Wallace, and Morgan Goode; four great-grandchildren, John and Charlotte Zdancewicz, Jordan Wallace, and Geiger McConaughey; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Sunday from July 18, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville where funeral services will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11am with Pastor Mike Dunn officiating. Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held Sunday at 7pm. Private Interment will be held by the family in Highland Cemetery, Cameron.
