James "Jim" Laughlin, Sr.

December 15, 1945 - April 29, 2022

James Allen Laughlin, Sr., 76, of Wheeling, WV passed away April 29th, 2022, due to respiratory disease, at Liza’s Place with his family by his side. Jim was born December 15th, 1945 in Wheeling, WV son of the late Edward and Grace (Calvert) Laughlin. He was a Christian by faith. Jim graduated from McKinley Vocational High School, Wheeling, WV. He had worked for North American #4 Mine OH, was the business owner of Jim’s Auto Service Marathon Station in Wheeling and retired from Shoemaker Coal Mine WV. He was a Mason, member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling and the Order of the Elks of Wheeling. Jim was a dedicated husband and father that truly loved his family, 50’s oldies music, dancing and classic cars. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, restoring his old cars, remodeling homes, carpentry work and the telling of old stories. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law: Shirley and George Kozusnik; brother: Robert Laughlin and brother-in-law: Mike Joseph all of Wheeling. Survivors include his wife, of 56 years, Mary Kathryn (Piko) Laughlin of Wheeling; son: James (Jane) Laughlin, Jr. of Wheeling; daughter: Sherry Laughlin Glover of St. Clairsville, OH; two sisters: Patty Joseph of Wheeling and Ruth Anne Marchese of Bellaire, OH; sister-in-law: Dee Laughlin and numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Per Jim’s request there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held later at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Road, Bethlehem/Wheeling. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, 162 Fairmont Pike Rd., Wheeling, WV 26003 or St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 141 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003.
