    Vivian S. Phelps

    June 27, 1937 - October 4, 2021

Vivian S. Phelps, daughter of the late Woodrow and Katherine Lawson, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at age 84. Born in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Vivian lived with her husband Joe Phelps in Wheeling, West Virginia for over 60 years, where they raised daughters Vanessa, Melissa, and Kimberly. Vivian was a vibrant and self-assured woman who was at the center of her family. She was a great cook who loved to make meals for her family during holidays and other gatherings. Over their 63-year marriage, she and husband Joe embraced their love of adventure by traveling extensively around the world. She was a retired RN from OVMC and an avid gardener who took pride in her thriving, exotic house plants and flower garden. Vivian is survived by husband Joe Phelps; daughter Vanessa Hall (Mick Hall) of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter Melissa Phelps (Bruce Rohrs) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and daughter Kimberly Phelps-Weber (Sean Weber) of Charleston, South Carolina. Vivian is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 nieces and nephews, and her sister Jan Duncan (Ron Duncan) of Wheelersburg, Ohio. Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Road, Bethlehem/Wheeling.
