Janeth Lynn West age 72 of Wheeling passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Liza’s Place, after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born April 18, 1952 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Foster Critser and Ruth “Geri” Thompson-Critser. Janeth was a former adjunct professor, polysomnographic technologist and a retired respiratory therapist. She was a former learning facilitator in TESOL and a volunteer for the Adult Basic Education for the Dominican Sisters of Peace She was affiliated with the St. Catharine Church of Siena, Columbus, OH; St. Michael’s Parish of Wheeling, WV and Beth Messiah Congregation of Columbus, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two previous husbands: Anthony Kordac and Dick Rine; two brothers: Keith Starr and Ronald Crister; one sister: Kathryn Critser and a nephew: Christopher Starr. Survivors include her children: Richard A. Rine of Steubenville, OH; Heidi R. Rine of Atlanta, GA and Caleb L. West of Wheeling; three grandchildren: Adrienne Rine; Mariah Rine; and Sydnee Smith; three great-grandchildren: Viviane Bradley; Omari Bradley; and Hudson Green; siblings: Bernar Starr of Ravenna, OH; Kenneth (Audrey) Starr of New Kensington, PA; Judith Elaine (Flavian) Decollo of New Haven, CT and Donna Merryweather of Weirton, WV; son-in-law: Duane Smith; daughter-in-law: Cindy Walker; ex-spouse: Gale West; many nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives, wonderful neighbors, good friends of excellent character, fellow congregation and church members, many cherished, former colleagues from her work in healthcare and higher education and her beloved dog, Ryker. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 3pm-7pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 1 Ridgecrest Road, Bethlehem/Wheeling. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:00am at St Michael’s Catholic Church, 1225 National Road, Wheeling. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Wheeling, WV or Beth Messiah Congregation, Gahanna, OH.
