Riggs, Virginia Mae Wilson, age 85 of Isner Court, Moundsville, loving mother of Lexie and Sina, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She was born June 5, 1922 in Holloway, OH the daughter of the late Clyde Morton Wilson and Iva M. Yoho Wilson. She was a retired employee from the former G.C. Murphy Company and Hinerman’s Women’s Clothing Store of Moundsville. She has been affiliated with the Ash Ave. Church of God for over 66 years. Mrs. Riggs was a charter member of the Moundsville Moose #1336 and served in every office. She has earned Academy of Friendship, Green Cap, College of Regents, Star Recorder and her Red Stole. She has been instrumental in helping others receive degrees. She is presently a member of the Wellsburg Lodge #1354. Virginia was an accomplished seamstress and craftsperson, having made everything from wedding dresses to cheerleading uniforms. She worked with the Girl Scout council for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 63 years, Melvin Riggs on March 18, 2005; two brothers: Owen M. and Harold L. Wilson; two sisters: Karen Wilson and Mabel Spinks; two sisters-in-law: Mable Robson and Orvilla Wilson; one niece: Elaine Wilson and one nephew: Harold Wilson, Jr. Survivors include two daughters: Lexie Ann (Robert) Hanket and Sina Lynn Morris all of Moundsville; 4 grandchildren: Rick (Joy) Hanket, Ted (Beth) Hanket and Christopher Morris all of Moundsville, and Laura Morris (John) Wright of Belmont, OH; 9 great-grandchildren: Brittany, Sydney, Courtney, Brandi, Jason and Jenna Hanket, Jessie Morris, Devin Starkey and Zane Wright; a great great grandson: Paul Woods; sister-in-law: Margaret Wilson and a niece: Delores Wilson (Wayne) Corley. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8pm and on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm, wtih a Women of the Moose Service at 3:30pm, at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00am with Rev. Billy Roe officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Moundsville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ash Ave. Church of God Youth Program, 127 Ash Ave., Moundsville, WV 26041.
